Novlum has been contracted to build the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data production system for Airbus DS's WorldDEM™ product based on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) from the TanDEM-X satellite mission. Over the course of three years, the twin satellites TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X have surveyed the Earth's entire 150 million square kilometers land surface and generate 1.5 petabytes of global image data and a high-resolution DEM. This immense coverage must be analyzed and corrected to remove sensor induced artifacts, repair missing features, and enforce hydrology. Novlum's system supports the entire production workflow across various international production facilities and enable high volume data editing through customized tools focused on user efficiency.
